Vaudevillains New Years Brigade

Philly Fringe
Philadelphia Amateur Dance and Party League's Vaudevilliains New Years Brigade and Club Lyfestile host a rotating lineup of giant marching bands and dance troupes from out of town. Inspired by Riverdance, Janet Jackson, orchestras, and January 1st.

In 2007 on New Year’s Day, while trolling 2nd Street for the few Mummers they could find on a rained-out parade day, a group of friends envisioned that they might actually become Mummers themselves. With a little digging and perseverance they discovered that this was possible.

Comprised of a diverse group of artists, Vaudevillains New Years Brigade is committed to bringing a fresh perspective to the very traditional Mummers Parade. With handmade costumes, original music and choreography, VNYB has participated in two Mummers parades, winning 5th place in the Comic Division in 2009.

Driven by the philosophy that “Every Day is New Years Day,” VNYB now performs year round. 2009 highlights include a performance with Gogol Bordello and a Mummers-themed “Craft Sunday” at Tattooed Moms.
