Philly Fringe
Honest, reliable, and a-bit-slouched Wilbur Burland uncovers crooked dealings perpetrated by his straight-spined employer, while a mysterious femme fatale turns everyone’s lives upside down. Come witness puppets, people, and a live band collide in a railyard, with nods to both dark comedy and pulp-melodrama. Bar and free parking onsite! www.railstheplay.weebly.com
StumbleGoat Productions has combined puppetry, music, and live actors to create a work that runs the gamut between noir, dark-comedy, and melodrama. Philadelphia actors Kate Black-Regan, Rob Cutler, Nick Reeves, Sarah Robinson, Mary Tuomanen, and John Wilder join forces in Rails. Inspired by the wise guys and dames of film noir, Lynch’s Twin Peaks and Pablo Neruda, Rails explores the interdisciplinary nature of puppetry, giving us brooms, bowling pins and one of the most terrifying hand puppets ever to gape its maw. Rails also features a live soundtrack provided by local musical heavyweights Jason Carr, David Fishkin, Corey Mark, and Jeremy Prouty, boasting between them an impressive collective resume with roots in experimental jazz, progressive rock, and electronic music. Wickedly funny and devastatingly tragic, Rails is beyond anything you could ever imagine . . . ever.
